A Church For Our Time

In 1996, Jim and Loine Hain were asked by the Brethren In Christ Church to assist in planting a new congregation in the Roanoke, Virginia area. Jim, an ordained United Methodist minister since 1972, and Loine, who grew up in the Brethren in Christ Church, felt led after much prayer to become co-ministers in this new venture.
 (MEET THE PASTORS)
With the help of their daughters  and a son-in-law, they held their  first service in October of 1996.   In the ensuing years the church  has grown to have nearly 100  people in worship each Sunday  morning. In September of 1999,

we sent our first missionary team to South Africa. After several years leasing facilities, we purchased our property in 2001 - a former gymnastics center that had to be completely renovated.

With our church family doing the majority of the work, the project was completed in just seven months, and we held our first service in our own church building in the Fall of 2002.

In the Summer of 2003 Loine resigned from her administrative duties and Darren Potter, an ordained minister since 1997, was added to our staff as an associate pastor. Darren and Jim have since switched pastoral roles, but maintain the common goal of glorifying God and edifying others in and through Community of Faith.

The Bottom Line

At Community of Faith we believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has not always been presented in a way that makes it relevant and alive for today. Endless churches hold countless meetings forwarding their own agenda rather than assisting persons to build their own faith in Jesus Christ. Here we emphasize inspiring contemporary worship, solid biblical teaching, intimate fellowship among a supportive group of friends, and a growing ministry to all ages. The vision of a great church is great people, helping individuals fulfill the special purpose for their life. We are a group of people who come to find our place in ministry. At Community of Faith our vision is you. We want you to become the person God would like you to be. He has a wonderful plan for your life. Will you let us help you discover what it is?
